The company Procter & Gamble has created Tide Pod, small liquid detergent-filled tablets designed to be tossed into the washing machine without the mess of measuring cups.  The product took eight years to design and create.  Procter & Gamble finds its success in improving upon everyday products to make chores easier for its customers.  They were looking to create a product that could work in any temperature water, any size load, any washing machine, weighed less and clean better.  Since detergent has remained pretty much unchanged since 1984, they expect Tide Pod to be a success.  Though the competition is tough, Procter & Gamble has an advantage because Tide is one of the most famous brands on the market.  The company expects to make $300 million from Tide Pod in the first year.

So a new product has been born, hopefully one that will make laundry easier.  Obviously, Procter & Gamble expect to make lots of money from Tide Pod especially since they spent so much time and money into creating it and marketing it.  However, things are looking good for them because consumer testing revealed a 97% approval rate.

I think it's awesome that Tide Pods have been invented.  I hope to get them in my home because I hate doing the laundry, especially measuring the liquid detergent.  Sometimes I put in too much or too little and I have to rewash the load.  I also hate how I can never pour all the liquid completely out of the cup, so all this sticky residue remains in the cup and it's quite disgusting.  So overall, I'm glad that Tide Pro is now on the market.

  1. I think that it is very smart to create a measured laundry detergent pod. I also think that Tide will make alot of money off of this product since most Americans use laundry detergent daily.

  2. Procter & Gamble was innovated in designing a new type of detergent, the Tide Pod, which can be tossed into the washing machine with ease. Developing the design and optimizing the product for different conditions, such as water temperature, load size, and washing machine type took 8 years. The improvement was the first major one since 1984, and Procter & Gamble expects to gain a profit of $300 million from the change.

  3. The product that Procter & Gamble has designed is a very innovative and useful product. The Tide Pod sounds so easy to use for laundry instead of measuring and spilling the detergent everywhere. I can think of many people who would use it such as busy moms, college students and people who are not so good with the washing machine. The fact that a study was done, shows that 97% of consumers approve of this product is a very good sign that the Procter & Gamble will make the 300 million dollars that they are aiming for. Procter & Gamble spent 8 years designing and creating this product for consumers,I think that all the hard work will pay off and that this product will sell like crazy!
