  Main Idea
In San Francisco schools have been facing major financial cuts. Now the city has a new plan to cut back even more on the district, they have plans to increase classroom size while cutting back 30 million dollars in teachers salaries and benefits over the next couple of years. The teachers have done everything that they can for the district to keep it working, even though they have few resources. The UESF is trying to save money, but taking it out of the teachers pockets is not the way to save money. The teachers have yet to go on strike, although this Thursday is the first in two votes that will either pass this plan or cancel it. The teachers have agreed to negotiate a new reasonable plan. Instead of cutting back on their salaries the teachers are asking for a 2 percent raise since they class load will increase. All of this also depends on the Governor Jerry Brown's Propose Tax Increase In November. If this plan is rejected then schools will be facing a 5 billion cut back in schools. If this bill is not passed the schools will not only have to cut back on teachers salaries but also on school activities.

Conclusion
In conclusion the cut backs should no be taken away from teachers. Schools should find a new way to lower cost. Many teachers do not get paid enough already for all the work that they do. My Mom is a teacher and I definitely do not think she gets paid enough for all the work she has done for not only the school but the district where she works.

  1. The major finical cuts that are being made in the City of San Francisco schools are having a direct impact on classroom size. 30 million dollars in already low salaries of teachers over the next few years is a terrifying prospect for the education system. I would find it hard to comprehend them not to go on strike. Hopefully the tax increase will pass and help the problems get somewhat better. A 5 billion dollar deficit is ridiculous it shows how undervalued education is if there is no money for teachers bright minds will not be attracted to such a giving and worthwhile field. Hopefully american's will get their priorities in order and see how important it is to educate our youth.
