Today in the courtroom we witnessed the cross examination of the prosecutor Brady, an expert on the bible, by the defense barrister Mr. Drummond. As you have certainly read already, this is the criminal trial of Mr. Cates, a biology teacher in the religious American state of Tennessee, charged with teaching evolution. What started as a simple criminal trial turned into a battle between religion and evolution. For the first part of the examination both sides won arguments. Towards the end Mr. Drummond was able to corner Mr. Brady into admitting that the period of creation could indeed have been more than seven days, I could have been thousands of years. This is a vital victory for evolution in this battle between religion and evolution, between the old and the new.

This is a such a well written summary about the trial. Hopefully in today's society there are not as much conflicts similar to the Cates trial. -Calvin Membreno
